My source spells the American radio operator name as J.W. Waner. And Navigator-Engineer was Harry Lyons, also an American.

The Australian Squadron Leader and Flight Lieutenant Charles Ulm purchased a used Fokker tri-motor for the trip; fitting new Wright J-5 Whirlwind engines, the same type powered Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis. The trip started on May 31, 1928 from Oakland, California and completed on June 9, 1928.

Intermediate stops were Hawaii, the Fijis and final stop Brisbane, Australia.
