I am increasingly concerned that having now carried out a considerable amount of work to eliminate incorrect and duplicated manufacturers name and the spelling of them, I am now seeing the incorrect formats reappearing.

Unfortunately, the "Add New Aircraft Data" field for "Manufacturer" offers alternatives which are not acceptable.

Enter Mcdonnell for example and a list of alternatives is presented all of which are incorrect as the correct spelling is McDonnell.

Enter the correct spelling, McDonnell, and again all the alternatives listed are incorrect.

Enter McDonnell Douglas and all the listed alternatives are again wrong.

Enter Hawker, 10 choices - 6 incorrect

and so on.

Would it be possible to edit these listings to delete the alternatives which are incorrect please?

Actually the hints (drop down list) are generated from existing manufacturer names in database, so if someone enters a wrong name for once, it will appear next time as a hint.

I know it's not a good solution, but to generate a list of manufacturer name list would be too much work. If the list is not complete, then when members create new airframes, they may have not hint.

I don't altogether agree.

If I enter Mcdonnell (small d), the list of hints does not show the correct spelling McDonnell.

Similarly, if I enter Mcdonnell Douglas, the hints list does not show the correct spelling McDonnell Douglas.

Yet the majority of entries in the database are correct. Why does the hints list not show the correct spellings?

These omissions must surely result in some of the incorrect entries we have in the database.

or, creating a new list with just the correct spelling

Unfortunately there's no easy way to find out mis-spellings.

I just made a small modification to exclude "Zombie airframes" (which are not linked to any aircraft profile) from manufacturer name hint. Many of these have wrong manufacturer names, and they cannot be found through manufacturers page, because they are not linked to any profile.
