Malcolm,
I totally agree with your first sentence. Have you subsequently changed the N11WY aircraft builder?
With all due respect, it appears the site "policy" is fraudulent thinking as the N11WY aircraft is NOT a Let production aircraft, but clearly recognized by the FAA TRUE registration as an EAB aircraft, honoring the true aircraft builder, not the same in all respects as a Type Certificated and Production Certificated production aircraft. Instead, N11WY has had DER oversight and a DAR airworthiness required sign-off.
Your site policy statement in your second sentence calls into question EXACT replication, as that cannot be and is not true with any EAB aircraft. If you think it is clearly a Yakovlev Yak-11 (fully production-replicated) from photographs, that is quite a stretch of the truth. As it is not!
Some military production aircraft were built by DIFFERENT manufacturers in several different countries, such as the Bucker Jungmanns and Bucker Jungmeisters. And some have been scratch-built by a World-noted Bucker constructor at SZP who is acknowledged to have the most accurate Bucker plans, duplicating exactly original factory construction. Just how would you assign an "exact country builder" to such an Experimental class build?
I have photos of a wooden full-size Spitfire replica, and another full size Spitfire is also under construction at SZP. Surely you could not label them as Supermarine Spitfires as that company no longer exists manufacturing aircraft.
Note that I have put quotation marks around the word "policy" as a member of the site Admin Team has recently stated that there has NEVER been ANY policy coordination ever reaching out to THAT team member re such "policies". That calls into question whether the Admin Team is a "team". I am left wondering if the Site Manager is aware of this curiosity. And, please don't take this post personal, as it is directed to the "Admin Team", just as my Data Correction post was.
