Frequently, when ex USAF airframes are registered with the FAA, the make and model are reverted to the civil equivalent.
For example, we have 75 Beech E50's in the database, 50 of which are ex USAF (from the cn's) and registered with the FAA as above, many carrying the USAF serial as the cn.
A problem arises when linking the military and civil profiles where the make and model must be identical.
In this case we have a military Beech U-8D Seminole (E50) and a civilian Beech E50 Twin Bonanza.
Ideally, I personally think that ex military aircraft should retain their original identity but this would seem to be confusing with so many listed in a civil registry.
There would appear to be two options.
1. to have the profiles unlinked.
2. to retain only a civil profile and enter the military registration in the cn field as
Beech E50 Twin Bonanza RLH-23 (57-6051) or E50 Twin Bonanza RLH-23 (USAF 57-6051)
Does anyone have another solution or a preference please?
Malcolm.
