2015357 & 2057

There has been a profile on 2015357 (MiG-15bis) for some time, and someone started another profile on this plane with the ID of 2057. These two need to be combined. I checked with the NMUSAF for the correct ID and here is their response:

"The NMUSAF tracks the MiG-15bis as 2015357. This number is the Soviet construction number. The 2057 marking which appears on the aircraft fuselage is the radio call (identification) number."

I'm thinking that perhaps the 2057 profile would be the correct one, since the radio call is usually the s/n?

I have had a look at this and I agree that the registration should be 2057, with the cn as 2015357 as confirmed by several sources.

I also think it would be worthwhile adding a comment to the profile to explain the significance of the airframe.

This is possibly the most valuable MiG-15 ever produced, certainly from an US perspective. During the Korean War the US tried unsuccessfully to obtain a 'Fagot' for technical and evaluation puposes but this example landed at Kimpo AB, South Korea by defecting pilot No Kum-Sok. Subsequently test flown and evaluated an offer to North Korea to hand back the plane to it's 'righful owners' was rebuffed and so instead it went on display at the National Museum of the USAF at Dayton.

I will tidy up into a single profile.

Those of us who have been to the NMUSAF are well aware of this bird's history! It would be neat to have historical notes like this in the comments section for any aircraft on A-D with historical significance.
